Anthony West is a registered Professional Engineer with 17 years of consulting, research, and teaching experience in the areas of hydrogeological characterization, site assessment and remediation, and groundwater and solute transport modelling, particularly at the regional scale and in fractured rock environments. His modelling experience includes performance assessment of deep geologic repositories for radioactive waste, delineation of wellhead protection areas for municipal wells throughout Ontario, construction of physical models to study the release of solute from in-pit tailings management facilities in northern Saskatchewan, assessment of fate and transport of chlorinated solvents in bedrock aquifers, and impact assessment for dewatering of quarries and large-scale construction projects. Dr. West has experience with a wide range of modelling and programming techniques and codes, and has particular interest and experience in conceptual model development and the use of methods to address parameter uncertainty. Dr. West maintains strong links with the academic sector and is a contract instructor at Carleton University teaching hydrogeology to fourth year students and numerical modelling to graduate students.
