GIS & Database Applications
A geographic information system (GIS) captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents all forms of geograhpicaly referenced information. At Intera, we use GIS at every stage of projects, from data collection using hand held GPS, to data modelling using sophisticated GIS tools, to the presentation of numerical modelling results. Our project experience includes:
- Provision of technical GIS support for the Mississippi-Rideau SWP team in the development of their hydrogeologic conceptual model
- Use of AutoCAD and GIS services on water supply and municipal groundwater source protection studies
- Creation of an MS Access database of all geologic and hydrogeologic information for approximately 110 monitoring locations used in the Area-Wide Groundwater Initiative in the West Don Lands area of Toronto
- Use of ArcView and MS Access database software to update the City of Ottawa’s Historical Land Use Inventory
- Creation of an ARCView GIS for the Bruce Power site for Ontario Power Generation
